"Hraparak": Investigator files court petition against head of investigative department.

The *Hraparak* newspaper reports: "Arayik Petrosyan, Deputy Head of the General Department for Investigation of Especially Important Cases at the Investigative Committee, has filed a lawsuit against the Investigative Committee, challenging the orders issued by Committee Chairman Artur Poghosyan to dismiss him from his post and transfer him to another position."

We inquired with the Investigative Committee as to whether Petrosyan had been dismissed from his job. The Committee provided us with the August 28 order dismissing him—at his own written request—from the position of Deputy Head of the Main Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases. Prior to that, on August 21, Petrosyan had been removed from his post as Deputy Head of the Military Investigative Main Department and appointed as a deputy head of a different department. Arayik Petrosyan was dissatisfied with this reassignment; he submitted a resignation letter for the newly assigned position and filed a lawsuit.

Petrosyan is demanding the annulment of both orders concerning him. He argues that if his former position no longer exists due to structural changes, he should be offered suitable alternative positions in accordance with the law and given the opportunity to decide whether or not to accept such an appointment. He also requests that the issue of placing him in the Investigative Committee's personnel reserve be considered. Arayik Petrosyan is a native of Artsakh.
