The “Hraparak” newspaper writes: “The special review complaint in the case of Samvel Karapetyan (to cancel the extension of detention, to overturn the detention) was addressed to Judge Zhenya Meliksetyan of the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal.
He rose from a clerk to the status of a judge. In 2024, he was transferred from the Shirak Region Court of First Instance to the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal. Meliksetyan examined the complaint in the case of businessman Samvel Karapetyan through a written procedure, but the decision has not yet been published, it will be published on September 8. Lawyers and advocates consider the outcome of the decision predictable.
They say she doesn't have enough "guts" to let Nikol Pashinyan's personal "enemy" Karapetyan go, and she also has a second fear and constraint due to the circumstances of her husband, who, according to our information, works in Gyumri, in the NSS border troops.
Yesterday we wrote that the husband of another judge investigating political cases, Armine Meliksetyan, who is investigating the case of Archbishop Michael, also serves in the police system. Apparently, it is not by chance that high-profile cases are attributed to those judges who are manageable, whose family members work in law enforcement agencies or hold positions.
