Shortly before the explosion of the Nord Stream pipeline, NATO military exercises were held in the Baltic region, Nikolai Patrushev, aide to the Russian president and chairman of the Naval Collegium, told the Kommersant newspaper, commenting on the situation with the investigation into the terrorist attacks on the gas pipelines.
"Now they prefer not to remember that literally on the eve of the Nord Stream explosion, NATO naval exercises were held in this part of the Baltic," Patrushev emphasized.
He also drew attention to the statement of Ukrainians previously arrested on suspicion of blowing up gas pipelines, according to which the investigation against them is aimed at shifting the blame to Ukraine and hiding the real organizers and participants of the terrorist attack, who are interested in increasing tensions in the Baltics.
"The analysis of the situation in the region confirms their words," Patrushev summed up.
