Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan writes: “Turkey and Azerbaijan are consistently working to spread pro-Turkish and anti-Armenian theses in the Armenian information field. The goal is to weaken Armenian resistance and finally absorb (if you want, make a vilayet) Armenia.
For this purpose, they resort to various tricks. For example, they open fake Armenian-language pages on Facebook and other social networks (you can find proven examples of such here ).
Just like years ago, now, "on the condition of always appearing peaceful in the eyes of Armenians," these actions are being taken "for the sake of the well-being of the Armenian people."
This is why today it is more important to know and recognize the real Turkey and Turkey's real goals, not what Turkish propagandists present to us on a daily basis.
One of the main theses of the described propaganda is "hand over the salt, then the borders will open and you will live well."
I have spoken on many occasions about why this thesis is dangerous and will present it in detail again. Now, let me say that there is regular talk of opening the borders in some vague future in order to get concessions from us.
Meanwhile, such a goal does not actually exist in Turkey, despite the periodic statements of Armenia's de facto leadership.
This is also evidenced by the information recently reported by the authoritative Turkish newspaper “Yetkin Report”. Thus, according to the newspaper’s ( https://yetkinreport.com/en/2025/08/09/aliyev-pashinyan-agree-will-turkiye-open-armenia-border-gate/ ) state sources, the initialed Armenia-Azerbaijan paper of August 8 “will not lead to the opening of the border.”
"Turkey has absolutely no serious interest in opening the border with Armenia. On the contrary, by using the closed border as bait to extract unilateral concessions from Armenia, Turkey gains greater gain and benefit."
