Former Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan was acquitted by the verdict of Judge Vahe Jivanyan. His defense attorney, Aramayis Hayrapetyan, announced this to the media.
"There was a charge of hooliganism under Article 297, which was being examined alongside other cases. Mr. Ghukasyan was acquitted of that charge. The other case is being heard in the Anti-Corruption Court. I believe the Prosecutor's Office will appeal the decision; if not, the acquittal verdict will enter into force," said Aramayis Hayrapetyan.
The attorney noted that the charge brought against Spartak Ghukasyan had been reclassified. Consequently, only Vardan Ghukasyan was acquitted in this case.
