The Georgian people and authorities understand everything so as not to become a puppet of the West: Lavrov
The Georgian people and the country's new authorities understand everything and are building a sovereign policy so as not to become a puppet of the West and move forward. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in an interview with TASS at the end of the year.
"The United States and the European Union are trying to put Tbilisi in a false dilemma: with us or against us, while the Georgian authorities seem to want to build a sovereign policy that will meet national interests, rather than be held hostage. The hands of Western countries are pushing Georgia towards destabilization, economic problems, and worsening relations with Russia. I have no doubt that the Georgian people understand everything and will move forward," the minister noted.
In the context of what is happening in Georgia, Lavrov was asked when the West will stop trying to carry out color revolutions near Russia's borders.
"That question should be addressed to Western politicians," the Russian Foreign Minister replied. "Interference in the internal affairs of states, including our closest neighbors, has long been part of their foreign policy arsenal."
He noted that for many years, Washington and its satellites have been using this tool to deter geopolitical rivals and eliminate undesirables.
"This is confirmed by the examples of Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine," the minister added.
