Blood pressure cannot be determined by how you feel. No external symptoms can give a definitive answer, cardiologist Philip Kuzmenko told NEWS.ru.

He explained that high blood pressure can indeed cause headaches, ringing in the ears, flushing, weakness, or dizziness. However, all of these symptoms are non-specific and can occur along with other diseases. Moreover, many people with hypertension have no visible symptoms at all, even when their readings do not meet the standards.

“Some people may not notice any noticeable symptoms, even when their blood pressure readings are extremely high. Therefore, it is best for everyone to have a blood pressure monitor at home and measure their blood pressure at least once a year, even if they do not complain. This is the main method for early detection of hypertension,” Kuzmenko explained.

The doctor advised choosing automatic blood pressure monitors with an upper arm cuff. They provide the most accurate indicators.
