“The decision of the Israeli government on the so-called Armenian Genocide is deeply concerning,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It is noted that “the distortion of historical facts regarding the events of 1915, the turning of complex historical processes into a political decision far from legal and scientific grounds is unacceptable.”
“Such steps do not contribute to reconciliation and mutual understanding, but rather deepen existing contradictions and hinder efforts to achieve lasting peace and reconciliation in the region. We call on the Israeli government to reconsider its decision. Azerbaijan will continue to consistently adhere to its position of defending historical truth, respecting the principles of international law and promoting lasting peace in the region.”
It should be recalled that the Israeli Cabinet unanimously approved Israel’s proposal to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide.
