The European Union has welcomed the start of bilateral trade relations between Turkey and Armenia as a significant event.
“The EU warmly welcomes today’s announcement by Turkey on the start of bilateral trade with Armenia. This is a significant milestone in the process of normalizing relations, as evidenced by the recent meeting of the bilateral working group on the restoration of railway communication between the two countries on 28 April,” said the official representative of the European External Action Service (EEAS).
According to him, this important step can contribute to the expansion of trade and economic opportunities between the two countries, having a positive impact on the entire South Caucasus and the European Union.
“We call on the two countries to continue their cooperation, including in opening their common border,” the EEAS representative said in a statement.
