The Iravunk newspaper writes: “During the government session held yesterday, Nikol Pashinyan announced that “we will deal with the issue of resolving the problems created in the EAEU in the process.”

According to sources close to Nikol, Pashinyan, realizing that the economy will be dealt a terrible blow as a result of Russian sanctions, has internally appealed to the Russian leadership with a proposal to hold a referendum on the EU or EAEU issue by the end of the year, simultaneously putting the issue of constitutional amendments in the referendum.

However, Pashinyan predicts that he will lose both issues and, again according to the above-mentioned news, promises to transfer the post of Prime Minister to Mher Grigoryan, who has experience in representing Armenia in the EAEU, which implies, on the one hand, freezing the course of convergence with the EU, and on the other hand, rejecting the demands of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

In return, Nikol asks to stop the sanctions against Armenian goods, and he is offered the position of Vahagn Khachatryan, who does not decide anything in Armenia.

"Judging by the fact that the sanctions were not only not lifted, but were even intensified, and Pashinyan has not received any congratulations from the Russian president, Nikol's proposal was not approved in Russia."
