At the session of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly held in Yerevan, CP deputies voted against the proposal that required Azerbaijan to ensure the right of the people of Artsakh to return safely to their homeland under international security guarantees.
NA Speaker Alen Simonyan believes that the opposition has made the issue of the return of Artsakh residents a banner.
"I want to understand whether they are ready to ensure the safety of these people, are you serious?" he said in a conversation with reporters.
According to Simonyan, the opposition only talks big about the return of the people of Artsakh.
"Is there anyone who can now declare that he ensures the return of Armenians to any settlement in Karabakh? It's not by talking big, it's not by saying toasts. It's natural that after some time, when relations normalize, some people will go and live in their homes, if that opportunity arises. I want to understand who they are reaching out to, that is, are there residents of Karabakh today who want to go and the RA authorities say no, we are against it?" Simonyan said.
The journalists reminded the NA Speaker of the example of Gaza, and he said that it was a very good example, the international community came together and now there is genocide in Gaza.
"We could have become the second Gaza, they would have put it, they would have turned our territory into Gaza," he emphasized.
