MESSAGE OF HIS HOLINESS GAREGIN II, CATHOLICOS OF ALL ARMENIANS, ON THE OCCASION OF THE DAY OF KNOWLEDGE, WRITING AND SCHOOL
On the occasion of the Day of Knowledge, Writing, and Schooling, we bring our Patriarchal blessing from the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and congratulate the pupils, students, and workers in the field of education.
The gift of knowledge and the ability to receive knowledge are gifts from God that create good when human life is anchored in faith in God and the divine messages. The Holy Scripture teaches: “The Lord gives wisdom, and from him come knowledge and understanding. . . . When wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, then good thoughts will warn you, and righteous thoughts will guard you, so that you may find salvation . . . ” (Proverbs 2:6, 10-12). Our people have lived with this awareness, with an unwavering love for knowledge in their souls, with which the trials of time have been overcome throughout the centuries, and our rich spiritual and intellectual heritage has been created.
Dear pupils and students, today another period of energetic work, assimilation of knowledge and recognition of values, and spiritual and intellectual maturation begins for you.
Our fatherly message to you is to diligently pursue your studies, to grow strong in your love for God and your homeland, so that you may use your accumulated knowledge with high national consciousness for the welfare and progress of our people.
We wish strength and energy to educators to lead their students into the wonderful world of science and knowledge, to educate them in the spirit of Sahak-Mesropyan, so that they may grow up as worthy children of our people and responsible citizens of our state.
It is our prayer that the Good God will keep our homeland and people in the Diaspora of the world in peace. May the Lord, with His grace, grant all our children a bright soul and a sharp mind, and abundantly bless the efforts of those dedicated to the cause of learning and education.
Have a blessed new academic year.
