Nothing will save a nation whose spirit is asleep: Father Shahe Ananyan

“You all have questions: are the clergy here? Are they involved in politics?” said Father Shahe Ananyan at a rally organized by the “Our Way” popular movement.

"Yes, they are engaged in: they are engaged in the politics of the spirit, the politics that is aimed at preserving and reviving the national spirit and values. Yes, because the kingdom of God is established on this blessed land only after the reviving and establishing of our national spirit."

"I have not come to convince you, usually the place for me and the rest of the spiritual fathers and brothers is the sacred altar of the church, but I am a sinner, a simple person like you, and like you, I always take steps that are not very righteous and holy, but I have come to share with you the values close to my conscience, which, as an Armenian man, force me not to remain silent," said Father Shahen.

"Remember, no government, no reform, no signed paper, no military-political alliance, nothing will save a nation whose spirit is asleep," he emphasized.
