According to our information, the current authorities of the Republic of Armenia are interested in the case of large-scale embezzlement by the former head of the Traffic Police of the Republic of Armenia, Margar Ohanyan, in 2011. According to the information received, the amount of embezzlement was more than initially presented, and if we recall, Ohanyan was convicted only for embezzlement of gasoline, but it turns out that there were also other embezzlements of state property and funds, totaling 3-5 million dollars.
The most interesting thing is that, according to our information, a number of oligarchs who enjoy the trust of the current authorities also directly participated in these embezzlements. And the current authorities are trying to use this opportunity to collect compromising material on the mentioned oligarchs in order to keep them dependent and exclude their transition to the opposition camp.
It is noteworthy that one of the witnesses in the case of Margar Ohanyan, and to be more precise, the only witness who testified against him, is Arsen Arshakyan, the former commander of the 2nd Officer Battalion of the Traffic Police. According to our source, Arshakyan is in possession of all the information regarding these embezzlements, but previously he was only questioned regarding the embezzlement of gasoline.
In fact, we are dealing with another episode when the current government wants to punish the oligarchs around it, wanting to use Arsen Arshakyan as a scapegoat against them. We tried to contact Arsen Arshakyan, who is currently in the United States, but he left our calls unanswered.
