Journalist Lia Sargsyan’s Facebook post: “The escort of the abducted was provided by the NSS “Alpha” squad and criminal operatives.
The security and escort of the abducted priests by the Mother See was carried out by the employees of the NSS special purpose unit (“Alpha”) and the operative service of the criminal police.
I am not talking about assumptions. I know the faces of some of them personally, and the allegations presented are based on concrete facts.
The video clearly shows how Navasard Kchoyan gives an order to a man in civilian clothes, who in turn instructs the people who formed a chain to “move”, “open the way”.
This man serves in the National Security Service’s “Alpha” anti-terrorist special squad and is one of the NSS officers who came to the Cathedral after Archbishop Michael.
In the second part of the video, the same person is already in uniform, his face covered. However, the gait, gestures, body movements and eye structure leave no doubt that this is the same person.
And here the key question arises: by what legal procedure were the employees of the law enforcement agencies authorized to ensure the security of the clergy, when by the decision of Nikol Pashinyan back in 2018, the Catholicos of All Armenians was deprived of the state security service.
If there is a written decision, publish it. If there is an oral instruction, present its legal basis. And if there is neither one nor the other, then the public is obliged to know who, why and by what right is using state resources for selected clergy.
