The former director of the "Holy Mother of God" MC is accused of embezzlement on a particularly large scale and official forgery.

The criminal proceedings initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee have established that the person who held the position of director of the “Surb Astvatsamayr” Medical Center from 2001 to 2020, using his official powers and the influence resulting from them, committed a particularly large amount of embezzlement of property entrusted to him during his tenure with the assistance of the medical center’s employees and a number of other persons, as well as committed official fraud for profit and other personal motives. The Anti-Corruption Committee reports this and details that the preliminary investigation revealed that the above-mentioned official formally admitted persons affiliated with him to work at the medical center, but, in the event that the latter did not attend work, with the assistance of the MC officials, he circulated false documents on work attendance, on the basis of which the aforementioned persons received salaries. As a result, the “Surb Astvatsamayr” MC suffered a loss of about 30 million AMD.
For the above-mentioned criminal acts, the former director of the medical center was charged under Article 179, Part 3, Paragraph 1 (3 counts) of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (corresponding to Article 256, Part 3, Paragraph 3 of the current Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia), Article 256, Part 2, Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (2 counts) and Article 314, Part 1 (5 counts) of the former Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (corresponding to Article 445, Part 1 of the current Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia).
During the preliminary investigation, the former director of the medical center admitted the charges brought against him and fully recovered the damage caused by the crime in the amount of about 30 million AMD. The preliminary investigation against him and 8 other persons has been completed. The materials of the proceedings with the indictment were handed over to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to approve it and send it to the court.
Notice: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a court verdict that has entered into legal force.
