Three signs that a mobile app is infected with a virus
Anton Nemkin, a member of the information policy committee of the Russian State Duma, in a conversation with " RIA Novosti", mentioned three signs by which it can be understood that the mobile application is infected with viruses.
According to the deputy, the main danger for users is viruses, Trojan viruses and spyware. They are often embedded in harmless programs such as games or utilities. The main purpose of such programs is to gain access to the user's personal data.
"By installing such an application, the user risks losing control over their data, which criminals can use to steal money or spread malicious content," said Nemkin.
The commission member also drew attention to the dangers of projects requiring too many permits. In particular, we are talking about providing access to phone functions that are not necessary for work: camera, microphone, contacts, etc. The deputy emphasized that the information obtained in this way can be used both for targeted advertising and for selling it to other unscrupulous companies.
In addition, apps that mimic popular programs or services are also a threat. Nemkin explained that with their help criminals can get data from social networks or personal bank accounts. Such apps are distributed through third-party app stores or suspicious links.
Programs with embedded ads and unwanted software pose a similar threat. With their help, criminals can redirect users to fake websites and download additional malware, he added.
Earlier, Kaspersky Lab experts detected a new version of the Necro malware in popular applications available on Google Play and other platforms. This Android downloader can download and run other malicious components on the infected smartphone.
