Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has shared his expectations for the Champions League semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid.

“Atletico are very strong both in attack and defence; otherwise they simply wouldn’t have made it to the semi-finals. The energy they create on the pitch and the belief in themselves is impressive. But we are ready for it.

I think Diego Simeone has done a huge job in the last 15 years, completely transforming the club. I have always admired people like that. Simeone’s connection with Atletico is very strong. He is a real role model for all of us.

It is a great honour for us to be here for the second year in a row, in the top four of the Champions League. This is a great opportunity and we intend to make the most of it. We have already shown what we are capable of in international matches, in any stadium. We need to play with that confidence and the greatest desire to win,” Arteta was quoted as saying by the official UEFA website.
