Yesterday, the dust content in the air reached 0.589 mg/m³, which is 3.9 times higher than the permissible concentration and 6 times higher than the previous day's figure.

The "Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Center" SNCO reports:

"The strong wind observed in Yerevan on May 11, the maximum speed of which reached 20 m/s, was due to thunderstorm activity, it arose in a thundercloud, that is, it was formed right in the territory of Yerevan. Similar winds are called storms and are formed as a result of a large difference in air temperature and atmospheric pressure in the front and rear parts of the thundercloud.

Due to strong winds, on May 11, a significant increase in the concentration of particulate matter in the atmospheric air was recorded in the center of Yerevan compared to the previous days, reaching 0.589 mg/m³, which exceeded the maximum permissible concentration by 3.9 times. It was 6 times higher than the indicator observed the previous day, on May 10.

No significant changes in dust concentration were recorded at other observation stations in the capital, and the recorded concentrations were within the permissible limit, which is presumably due to the precipitation immediately following the strong wind.
