"Zhoghovurd": KP members were instructed to describe Samvel Karapetyan as "former" and vilify him in that style

The “Zhoghovurd” daily writes: “According to information received by the “Zhoghovurd” daily from sources close to the CP, the arrest of philanthropist and leader of the “Tashir” group Samvel Karapetyan is the result of political calculations. In particular, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is seeking to strengthen his pressure against the Armenian Apostolic Church with this step and achieve the “resignation” of the Catholicos of All Armenians.”

According to government sources, the ruling political team has already issued relevant instructions to the CP deputies and public relations officers. They have been urged to be ready to launch an active campaign against Samvel Karapetyan, presenting him as a “supporter of the former” and, in particular, a figure supporting the second president, Robert Kocharyan.

Samvel Karapetyan, who in recent months has come out in defense of the Church's interests, is currently, according to some, viewed as an ideological and public pillar for opposition sentiments.

At the same time, the ruling team is also considering using this history to shatter the possible broad consolidation from within, between the church, the Diaspora, and certain circles within Armenia.
