The European Union countries have not yet reached an agreement on the 21st package of wide-ranging sanctions against Russia, but today they may decide to add 250 individuals and entities to the list of sanctions against Russia.According to Reuters, this was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas.

“We hope to reach an agreement on the listing of 250 people… this is the largest number of listings we have done so far,” Kallas said before a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels.

According to her, there are still some unresolved issues regarding the new package of sanctions against Russia.

“When it comes to the 21st package, there are still some open questions,” the EU High Representative noted.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budris also touched on the restrictions under discussion, noting that EU countries have yet to decide on the proposed measures to ban maritime services and tighten restrictions on Russian liquefied natural gas.

“So I am trying to see if we are serious enough. We cannot put economic interests above security interests… this is a very dangerous trend,” Budris told reporters.

Discussions are ongoing in the EU over a new package of sanctions against Russia, which includes both the listing of new individuals and entities and the possible expansion of a number of economic restrictions.
