Shootings in Abovyan city: one injured

On January 30, an extraordinary incident occurred in Kotayk region. The Kotayk police department of the Main Department of the Community Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received operational information that shots were fired in the courtyard of building 1 on Tartu Street in the city of Abovyan.

According to Shamshyan , community police officers found out that Armen A., a 54-year-old resident of Kotayk region, was transferred from the aforementioned location to the Abovyan Medical Center on that day.

The community police officers go to the hospital and the doctors on site report that at around 9:45 PM, a citizen was taken to them with a diagnosis of “a severed gunshot wound to the 2nd finger of the left wrist.” The police officers determine that this citizen is Armen A.

While doctors were providing assistance to the injured man, community police officers determined that he had sustained the injury as a result of an accidental discharge while testing the gun, and from a fireproof safe in his home, they recovered the gun, along with its magazine, which contained 4 bullets, 2 spent bullets, as well as 18 starter pistol bullets and a Makarov pistol.
