The Azerbaijani president said in an interview with Al Arabiya that he had appealed to Trump regarding the road through Syunik in order to provide "international security guarantees" for Azerbaijanis. The US administration approached the issue with due attention, and as a result, TRIPP ("Trump's Path to International Peace and Prosperity") appeared, which will be implemented in the near future.

Aliyev stressed that Baku has been negotiating with Yerevan for 5 years, but the Armenian side has not shown a constructive approach to Azerbaijan’s legitimate requests, and Azerbaijan has not wasted any time and has begun building a railway to the Armenian border to connect it to Nakhichevan. He believes that the construction of the 42-kilometer route will not take much time, and assured that Armenia will receive transit payments from transportation. Aliyev called the route the only way to connect Asia with Europe through the territory of Azerbaijan, noting that this would make the “Zangezur Corridor” or TRIPP an alternative. “If we built it, we would finish it in a year, because we have more experience in building railways. For Armenia, it may take several years.”

"The position of the Iranian president is absolutely reasonable and is based on the fact that the Zangezur Corridor does not pose any threat to Iran," he added.
