A Defense Ministry official received illegal compensation for organizing the process of releasing a number of people from training camps. The preliminary investigation into him and 4 other people has

As a result of the operational-investigative measures carried out by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, the preliminary investigation conducted under the criminal proceedings initiated by it was substantiated that the head of the administrative-economic group of the territorial military commissariat of the RA Ministry of Defense, with the assistance of a close person, in order to use the alleged influence he had over the official, received 560,000 AMD as illegal remuneration from the parents of the persons summoned to the training exercises, as well as demanded 765,140 AMD for releasing the aforementioned persons from the training exercises.


The official of the Ministry of Defense was charged under Article 438, Part 2, Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the RA Criminal Code. Arrest was chosen as a preventive measure against him.


Public criminal prosecutions have also been initiated against individuals who avoided training, as well as the parents of the latter, who paid an official with the assistance of an intermediary to commit an illegal act in favor of their sons, namely, to exempt them from training.


The preliminary investigation into the Ministry of Defense official and 4 other individuals has been completed, and the materials of the proceedings have been sent to the RA Anti-Corruption Court with an indictment.


The Anti-Corruption Committee urges to refrain from the vicious and criminally prosecuted practice of removing the data of citizens subject to involvement in training from regular lists in exchange for bribes or other illegal remuneration, and to immediately submit information on each case of non-participation in training in the absence of grounds established by law to law enforcement bodies.


At the same time, it is clarified that the Anti-Corruption Committee and the Ministry of Defense will pursue the disclosure of similar cases, and in case of detection of such cases, appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated, with all the consequences provided for by law.


Notice: A person accused of a crime is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a court verdict that has entered into legal force.
