Archbishop Michael, sorry, but he must change his position, said expelled MP Hovik Aghazaryan in a conversation with reporters, referring to the process of nominating Archbishop Michael as a candidate for prime minister and expressing no confidence in Nikol Pashinyan, which the Archbishop refused to do.
"I am afraid to say new words so as not to harm the process, because I, an unbeliever, had deep respect for that man. I did not know him, but he is a very important person and enjoys respect. Each of us is not the master of our own head, and so is Archbishop Michael, and, sorry, but he is obliged to change his position, of course, by appealing," he said.
Aghazaryan disagrees with the assertion that such a proposal is watering down the government's mill, confirming that the clergy are engaged in politics.
"The clergy is a citizen, the state is facing challenges, the solution of which is worrying. Now, if a clergyman respected and accepted by everyone comes, occupies the position of prime minister for 6-7 months, and all political forces present their programs to the people and go to the 2026 elections, does this mean that the clergy is engaged in politics? No, the clergy are just helping to get out of this crisis," he said.
