Child brutally beaten by stepmother dies

A child who was beaten by his stepmother, hospitalized and in critical condition has died. NEWS.am was informed about this by Arabkir Medical Center.

Earlier, NEWS.am reported that on March 16, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. After midnight, a 1-year-old and two-month-old boy was transferred to Yerevan’s Arabkir Medical Center with a diagnosis of “clinical death,” and according to preliminary information, he was beaten by his stepmother.

The Investigative Committee reported that in connection with the case of violence against the child, an attempt to murder was opened in the Yerevan Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. A criminal case has been initiated. 1 person was arrested during the preliminary investigation.

The Prosecutor’s Office also reported on the case that violence was regularly used against the child for about 1.5 months, and on March 15, an attempt was made to illegally deprive him of his life with direct intent. A petition was filed with the court to detain the 38-year-old woman, and she was detained for 2 months.

According to NEWS.am, the child’s biological mother is a resident of the Masis community of Ararat province and, in addition to the child, has three other children. Two of them have been placed in the care of a foster family living in Yerevan, one child is being raised by her grandmother, and the child has recently been under the care of her father and stepmother. The child’s father and stepmother live in the Arabkir community of Yerevan.
