The “Fact” newspaper writes: “According to our information, on the eve of the elections in Vagharshapat, the dawns are not so peaceful in the ranks of the CP, as they say. The newspaper’s sources report that local CP members are urging the governor of Armavir and the CP’s list leader, Argishti Mekhakyan, to convince Nikol Pashinyan not to suddenly appear in the vicinity of Echmiadzin during this pre-election period. More precisely, not to interfere in the pre-election processes.
The point is that local KPA members fear that, taking into account the shameful low rating of the CP throughout the country, including in the settlements of the enlarged Vagharshapat community, and the objective prospect of defeat in the near future, Nikol Pashinyan may come to mind and, as is his custom, take the “burden” on his shoulders and personally visit Echmiadzin to save the situation, even hold a rally. However, the KPA members understand that they are already in a very difficult situation, and now it is simply impossible to convince people that Pashinyan’s campaign against the Mother See and, in general, the Armenian Apostolic Church is right, for the sake of the Church, etc. The majority of the local population categorically rejects the war declared by Pashinyan on the Armenian Apostolic Church.
This means that Nikol Pashinyan may be doing a "disservice" to his team, and his visit will generally destroy the last hopes of achieving any success in the municipal elections, although it is already obvious that in the event of fair, honest elections, the Communist Party has no, even a theoretical, chance of forming a majority."
