The prestigious sports portal Goal has compiled a ranking of the main favorites for the 2026 World Cup.
The list is headed by the Spanish national team. It is noteworthy that although the Spaniards have not been able to overcome the 1/8 finals barrier in the previous three World Cups, they will approach the tournament as the reigning European champions.
In second place is the reigning world champion Argentina. The South American team reached the final once again in the 21st century, in the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
The top three is completed by the French national team. This powerful European team has won medals in the previous two tournaments in a row. In 2018, the French won gold medals, and in 2022, silver medals.
One of the surprises is the position of the Brazilian national team. The five-time world champions did not make the top ten, finishing only in 11th place, ahead of Switzerland, Norway and Belgium.
Goal's top 20 favourites for the 2026 World Cup are:
Spain
Argentina
France
Portugal
England
Germany
Netherlands
Switzerland
Norway
Belgium
Brazil
Senegal
Japan
Morocco
Colombia
