Journalist and public figure Nairi Hokhikyan's post: "A large number of people have joined the petition against Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, the still-acting leader of the Artsakh Diocese, since December 15, asking the Catholicos of All Armenians to relieve the renegade bishop from his duties as leader of the Artsakh Diocese.
Text of the petition:
"Considering the fact that Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, the leader of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, has gone against the canons of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church with his actions and joined the apostate steps initiated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, we, the faithful children of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, refuse to accept Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan as the leader of the Artsakh Diocese and appeal to His Holiness the Patriarch of Constantinople, TO KAREGIN II, CATHOLICOS OF ALL ARMENIANS, requesting to relieve Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan of his duties as Primate of the Artsakh Diocese and to appoint another clergyman faithful to the canons of the Armenian Apostolic Church in his place.”
I believe that the Mother See will begin some process in the coming week.”
