Gor Manvelyan, the midfielder of "Noa" and the Armenian national team, gave an extensive interview to the prestigious So Foot magazine, in which he also touched on the move to Armenia and life in Armenia.
"I am from Artsakh. We lived in the capital Stepanakert. My father worked in the military system. My parents left the homeland with us because of the war. I was 5 years old when we left. Even today, many people have left Artsakh, the war lasts a long time, it is very difficult. What was important to my parents was to provide us with a better life. In France, they did different jobs. My father and brother are now auto mechanics.
Actually, I just discovered Armenia as a result of my move at the beginning of last year. I had not been here since I moved to France, I had no recollection. I do not regret this choice, especially since I know the language, which made my adaptation easier. I live in Yerevan, the capital, and to be honest, it's a much more modern city than I expected. For me, there is not even a big difference from the football routine of "Nantes". we play every 4 days, there is very little time left to relax and enjoy good Armenian dishes. I feel very good here. I hope to show good results here in order to return to Europe," Manvelyan said.
Referring to his departure from "Nantes", Manvelyan noted that the decision was not made easily, but he did not see great prospects. "I didn't get much playing time in "Nantes". I realized that I need a place where I can play more. Of course I wasn't ready to go anywhere. Noah's project and sports program interested me. A newly founded club with big goals. We want to become one of the strongest clubs in the region and regularly play in Europe, just like "Astana" or "Karabakh".
Manvelyan was also asked whether he considers his career to be similar to the career of Georges Mikutadze, the striker of the Georgian national team and the French "Lyon". "I wouldn't mind having such a career. In Armenia, I am rather compared to Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He is a real star here, the best scorer of the national team."
