Macron calls on Iran to negotiate and de-escalate. French President Macron wrote about this in his X page, reporting that he had a conversation with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.
"I spoke with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian. I reaffirmed the absolute necessity to end the unacceptable attacks against the countries of the region, to protect energy and civilian infrastructure, and to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
I called on Iran to engage in negotiations in good faith in order to pave the way for de-escalation and to create a framework that will allow it to respond to the expectations of the international community regarding Iran's nuclear and ballistic programs, as well as its regional destabilizing actions.
Finally, I urged Iran to allow our compatriots Cecile Coller and Jacques Parry to return to France as soon as possible," Macron wrote.
