Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, in a post on the occasion of the birthday of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, compared his actions regarding the referendum on membership in the EAEU with the decisions of Soviet politician Leon Trotsky.
“Comrade Nikol went down the dangerous path of Comrade Trotsky. Responding to the call to hold a referendum on which integration union Armenia should join (EAEU or EU), he used Lev Davidovich’s legendary formula: “Neither war, nor peace, but disband the army,” Medvedev wrote on his page on the “X” platform.
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council recalled that such a formula led to the fact that the country was still forced to sign the Brest Peace Treaty in 1918, but “already on much worse terms.”
“Well, Trotsky’s winding path ended quite tragically for him,” he noted.
Medvedev concluded his post with a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan, who celebrates his birthday on Monday, June 1.
“Happy birthday, Nikol Vovaevich,” he wrote.
