"In Turkey, they know Armenia and the Armenian people well. They know how important historical memory is for us. They are well aware of how much we are connected to the Western part of our homeland, which is currently under Turkish control," Turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan said.
According to him, this knowledge helps the Turks to correctly develop the conquest policy they are pursuing towards us today.
"An example of this can be seen today in the framework of the endlessly drummed-up "negotiations" with Turkey."
So, if you pay attention, in the statements made after each meeting of the Turks with the de facto authorities of the Republic of Armenia, there is a formulation similar to this: "The representatives of Armenia and Turkey also agreed that efforts will be made to strengthen cooperation in the cultural and academic spheres, in particular... through the joint restoration of the historic Ani/Silk Road Bridge."
The appearance of the Ani Bridge, which has no practical significance for Armenia, in these “negotiations” has only one goal. By mentioning the city of Ani, which is associated with Western Armenia, to awaken emotions towards the lost homeland among the Armenian people, thus numbing attention to the remaining points of the negotiations. Points that are aimed at gradually turning Armenia into a zone of Turkish influence. In fact, they give us a symbolic connection with a piece of our homeland and the illusion of its restoration, so that they can easily take away the part we have.
"This is a trick of experienced Turkish diplomacy," Geghamyan noted.
