The founder of the Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA), Vardan Ghukasyan, has written a letter to the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and the Head of the State Security Service of Georgia, Mamuka Mdinaradze. The letter reads: “On behalf of the radical opposition “Democracy, Law, Discipline” (DPA) party of the Republic of Armenia and personally, we express our deep gratitude to the Georgian authorities for the recent seizure of 190,000 fake Armenian passports and 29,000 fake Armenian ID cards at the Georgia-Turkey border.

According to our sources, the mentioned documents were printed in the Turkish city of Izmir and were intended to be illegally imported into Armenia in order to falsify the results of the 2026 Armenian National Assembly elections. We fully appreciate the vigilance and operational actions of your state structures, which are aimed at maintaining the stability of our region, the transparency of electoral processes, and democratic principles.

The DOK party declares its readiness to fully cooperate with the relevant Georgian authorities in such matters and to provide every assistance in the detection and prevention of illegal mechanisms. We are ready to provide the necessary information and support so that such plans do not violate our democratic processes and all those responsible are held accountable, regardless of their legal status or political position.

PS: It is noteworthy that these authorities are well aware of the vulnerability of their position and, in order to compensate for it, have collaborated with their Turkish counterparts to organize the issuance and distribution of fake passports. Their goal is to involve foreign nationals, including individual Indian individuals and others, in order to ensure false results during the elections. In short, the goal is to ensure a fictitious vote count during the elections, using the votes of people with restrictions on their status in Armenia or who are otherwise far away. We are aware that the customers of the fake passports may be institutionally formed circles from the current government, who, according to some of our assessments, are almost certain that they cannot legally weigh the real majority. This alarm is important, so we ask that a copy of this information be also sent to all interested European partners, including the EU observation missions, so that the relevant international bodies take this threat extremely seriously and take appropriate steps.

"Thank you again for your efforts and quick response. We hope that our mutual understanding and cooperation will promote regional security and the protection of elected governance mechanisms."
