This photo clearly shows the state of Vardanyan, no matter how much the Azerbaijani side tries to cover it up. Azerbaijan expert Tatevik Hayrapetyan wrote about this on her Facebook page:

"The Azerbaijani press has published a report stating that the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan visited Ruben Vardanyan, Bako Sahakyan, and other of our compatriots held hostage in Baku. The report states that Vardanyan allegedly said that he "was not subjected to cruel treatment and is in normal conditions..."

I think this photo very clearly shows the state of Vardanyan, no matter how much the Azerbaijani side tries to cover it up. And the visit of the Human Rights Defender and the dissemination of this message, in my opinion, prove that the pressures on Baku cannot fail to have an effect.

With this visit, they are trying to show that everything is “in order.” If everything is so “in order,” then let them allow international human rights defenders, doctors, and other representatives to visit Vardanyan and other Armenian hostages...”
