Khachik Manukyan, the candidate for the head of the community nominated by the "Homeland" party in the Vagharshapat council elections, noted from his contacts with the population during the campaign that the main problem people face is skepticism.
"I regret that I am joining public life late in this capacity, because I see how many shortcomings there are. Many statements have been heard that have not been fulfilled for years, and now people are skeptical. We must first restore that faith," the opposition candidate said in a conversation with reporters during the campaign, noting that there are many accumulated problems, and they are the force that can find solutions with the community's residents.
"I'm not claiming to have come with a magic wand, but if I promise something, even if it costs my life, I have to fulfill it. I see that people have been able to make promises easily and calmly and leave, which has discouraged people," he said.
Manukyan assures that they have chosen the path of an honest struggle: "We are waging an ideological struggle to preserve our faith and values. I will not allow these filthy entities to rule over my sacred land, my city."
When asked how the talk about national values and faith is received in Echmiadzin and the surrounding communities, Manukyan replied: "Those who feel that they were born Armenians have obligations, of course, understand. Those who consider themselves outsiders are cosmopolitan creatures, like many of the punks of the Communist Party, who declare that they have no national desire... so what do you have, do you... All you have is defeats, a false agenda, false peace, and the humiliation of this people on such a miserable day... All these earth-shattering creatures must receive their proper assessment."
Manukyan understands that these "evil rulers" are preparing an attack on the Mother See by organizing "vile liturgies" in advance.
"They are doing this in order to once again divide our already exhausted population and lead them into fights. During that false liturgy, even state and security officials avoided active activity, because one cannot be so vile, bow down to the Turks, to the enemy, and sneer. If they are sterile, then they should leave, and we should masterfully determine a victorious course for our nation," he said.
