Fox News has published a copy of a letter from the US first lady, Melania Trump, to Russian President Vladimir Putin through her husband, President Donald Trump. In the message, Melania Trump called on the Russian president to "protect children" and overcome divisions between nations.

According to Fox News, the Russian president immediately read it in the presence of the American and Russian delegations.

In the text of the letter, the first lady noted that every child, regardless of their country of origin or social status, "has the same dreams: of love, opportunity, and protection from danger."

“As parents, we have a responsibility to nurture the hope of the next generation. As leaders, we have a responsibility to support our children, not only in our immediate environment, but also in a much broader sense. Surely, we must strive to create a world of dignity for all, so that every soul can wake up in peace and the future is securely protected. A simple but profound thought, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you will agree: every generation begins its life with purity, an innocence that transcends geography, power, or ideology.

And yet, in today's world, some children are forced to carry within them a silent laughter that is untouched by the darkness around them, a silent resistance to the forces that could take away their future. Mr. Putin, only you can give them back their joyful laughter.

"By protecting the innocence of these children, you will be doing more than just serving Russia; you will be serving all of humanity. Such a bold idea transcends all human divisions, and it is you, Mr. Putin, who can make this vision a reality today with one signature. The time has come," the letter says. It is worth noting that the text of the letter does not mention Ukraine, Russia's war against Ukraine, or Russia's alleged abduction of Ukrainian children. According to Fox News, the letter was written on the eve of the upcoming meeting between Trump and Putin in Anchorage.

Ukraine alleges that Russia is offering forcibly deported Ukrainian minors for forced adoption online.
