Blinken welcomed the agreement reached by Armenia and Azerbaijan on border demarcation
We welcome the announcement that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on the 1991 Alma Ata Declaration as a basis for demarcating the borders between the two countries. US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken wrote about this on his X (former Twitter) page .
"This is an important step towards concluding a stable and dignified peace agreement," he added.
Let's remind that the eighth meeting of the commissions on the demarcation of the state border between the two countries took place yesterday on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan, chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafaev. A protocol was signed as a result of the meeting. The parties have agreed to coordinate the date and place of the next meeting. According to the statement of our Foreign Ministry, as a result of yesterday's meeting, a preliminary agreement was reached to align the Baghanis - Baghanis Ayrum, Voskepar - Ashagh Askipara, Kirants - Khairumli and Berkaber - Kizil Hajil sections of the border with the legally established inter-republican border that existed at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union.
