The Hraparak newspaper writes: “Representative of the “Euroreferendum” initiative, chairman of the “For the Republic” party, Arman Babajanyan, has been publicly making some sarcastic remarks towards the authorities in recent days. For example, he objected to Pashinyan’s statement on adopting a new constitution, and described the arrest of former Gyumri mayor Vardan Ghukasyan as “a cheap show, a new level of absurdity.”
Pro-Westerners explain this by saying that the West has begun to distrust Pashinyan. Although the draft referendum on the European Union passed its first reading in parliament two weeks ago, the authors of the initiative have doubts that Pashinyan actually has no intention of moving towards the EU.
Moreover, they have doubts that after the Russian-American negotiations, the CP may not even bring the draft to a second reading, and even if they do adopt it, it will remain on paper, and no steps will be taken in that direction.
"They discussed and decided that with tougher rhetoric towards the government, they should push it to take real action, first of all, force it to appoint a new first deputy prime minister who will deal only with issues of EU membership."
