"Hraparak": Who is the accuser in the Samvel Karapetyan case?

The “Hraparak” newspaper writes: “The Yerevan Criminal Court (presiding judge Artak Karapetyan) imposed a 2-month detention on Samvel Karapetyan as a preventive measure. We inquired who defended this obviously illegal accusation in court.

Our sources in the law enforcement system said that the public prosecutor is Aram Dolinyan, a senior prosecutor of the Department for Crimes Against State Authority of the Prosecutor General’s Office. He was transferred to this department from the position of Deputy Prosecutor of Armavir Region in 2023 by order of Anna Vardapetyan, but he is one of the long-time residents of the prosecutor’s office. In 2007, he was awarded the Mkhitar Gosh Memorial Medal by decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan.

In 2007, he was appointed assistant prosecutor of Armavir region. He is also known for the fact that for several years now he has been defending another illegal accusation in court against RPA Vice Chairman Armen Ashotyan, and every time he objects to the motion to change Ashotyan's detention.

Let us remind you that Armen Ashotyan has been detained for 2 years on fabricated and false charges, 15 months of which were in prison and the rest under house arrest.
