It is impossible to live in Karkop now, everything is covered with mud, there is no gas, water, electricity. Administrative manager
Karkop is one of the villages most affected by the floods that occurred on the night of May 25-26, where not a single house was left undamaged. In a conversation with 168.am , the administrative head of Karkop, Hermine Petrosyan, said that the entire village is in a disaster, the residents have been evacuated, they have moved to the villages of Chochkan, Mets Ayrum, with the hope of returning to Karkop again.
"It is not possible to return to the village at the moment. The village has no car road at all, it has collapsed, leaving only the foot road. Some of the residents just returned to see the condition of the houses. It is not possible to live in the village at the moment, because the water has flooded into the houses, and now the water has receded, the houses are completely filled with silt. People are still trying to clean the sludge," said Hermine Petrosyan.
According to the head of Karkop, they are now trying to take inventory of the damages in the village that was completely submerged in water.
"The village is very small, but the damages suffered are great. There is no such house whose first floor and basements are not filled with water. There is no drainage system, everything is covered with silt. There is no gas, water or electricity in the village. I repeat, even in the case of the greatest desire, if the residents return to the village, there are no basic conditions for living. We have to start all over again from scratch.
It is a very terrible situation, the bridge is collapsed, people barely manage to cross the road on foot," he concluded.
