On October 14, Judge Syuzanna Ulikhanyan of the Civil Court of General Jurisdiction of the City of Yerevan delivered a verdict in the case of *Alen Simonyan v. Edgar Ghazaryan* (case no. ED2/3518/02/26).

The court ruled to dismiss the claim filed by Alen Roberti Simonyan against Edgar Ferdinandi Ghazaryan, which sought a retraction of allegedly defamatory information and financial compensation. The case concerned a publication titled "FAMILY CORRUPTION: A Thematic Discussion with Edgar Ghazaryan."

Alen Simonyan will not receive the 2 million AMD he sought; instead, he is ordered to pay 100,000 AMD to Edgar Ferdinandi Ghazaryan to cover reasonable legal fees. Edgar Ghazaryan was represented in court by the "Farvater" law firm (Director: Vardan Aloyan).

The Republic of Armenia also benefited from this, receiving 80,000 AMD in state duty.

I hope Alen Simonyan exercises his right to appeal the verdict to the Civil Court of Appeal of the Republic of Armenia—only to lose in that instance as well, and end up paying additional state duty to the state.

P.S. "Of the 17 million AMD claim filed against me by members of the 'Civil Contract' party board, 2 million has been dropped; now, let's see the matters concerning Romanos and Nikol resolved as well," stated Edgar Ghazaryan.
