The Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated at the Mother See

On February 14, the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church will celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, the 40-day-old baby Jesus in the Temple, the beginning of which was announced on the evening of February 13.

On the occasion of the feast, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, accompanied by a solemn procession of clergy, entered the Mother Cathedral, where the Evening Service and the Pre-Christmas Service were held under the presiding authority of His Holiness.

Then the first Andastan Order of the year took place, during which the four corners of the world were blessed.

Then, under the hymn “Christ is Glorious,” His Holiness transmitted the life-giving light symbolizing Jesus Christ from a candle lit from the lampstand of the Holy Table of the Descent of the Mother Cathedral to the faithful present.

At the end of the ceremony, the procession of the clergy headed to the enclosure of the monastic building of the Mother See, where, in the presence of many faithful Armenians, the Patriarch of All Armenians lit the fire of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. His Holiness also presented crosses to the faithful Armenians.

The feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary has been declared a day of blessing for newlyweds by His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. In this regard, on February 14, at the end of the Divine Liturgy in the Mother See and in all churches, a blessing ceremony for newlyweds will be held.
