What happened to Samvel Karapetyan is a fantastic disgrace, said the second President of the Republic of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, on the air of Channel 5.

According to him, what happened against businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan is a blow to charity as a public institution and the extreme degree of stupidity.

"The scale of Samvel Karapetyan's charity can probably only be compared to that of Kerkorian, with the difference that Kerkorian did not enter Armenia with business. Samvel Karapetyan has made large investments and created thousands of jobs. Now, when the volume of investments in Armenia has decreased, attacking a major investor is simply stupid."

He recalled the state of the distribution networks when they were state-owned, saying it was a shameful picture, they were privatized at the time.

Kocharyan also noted that they want to do favors at the expense of distribution networks in order to extract votes in the elections. "They will destroy the working system."
