The "Zhoghovurd" daily writes: "According to the information of the "Zhoghovurd" daily, the issue of another candidate for a Constitutional Court judge is being discussed behind the scenes in the government. In particular, the name of the former Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Artak Zeynalyan, who is also a candidate favored by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, is currently being discussed.
The "Zhoghovurd" daily tried to verify the information with Zeynalyan, who, upon hearing our question about his candidacy, declared: "Without comment."
Let us recall that the "Zhoghovurd" daily wrote on February 20 that the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan intends to take the CP deputy Vladimir Vardanyan to the Constitutional Court as a judge. However, Pashinyan has not responded to this in any way, he is hesitant, since the position of the Chairman of the NA Committee on State and Legal Affairs will remain vacant. There is no one with the appropriate knowledge and experience within the CP faction who would be entrusted with that position.
As for Artak Zeynalyan, let us recall that in the summer of 2019 he resigned from the post of Minister of Justice. Before that, Nikol Pashinyan's government rejected him in the same National Assembly. On June 27, 2022, Artak Zeynalyan was a candidate for judge of the Administrative Chamber of the Court of Cassation, but was not elected by the Constitutional Court. In those days, Zeynalyan had stated that he saw himself more in the position of judge of the Constitutional Court. But now he is a member of the "Republic" faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
