The Prime Minister did not want the death of an Armenian, it was a political debate: Sona Ghazaryan

The Prime Minister did not wish anyone to die, he simply asked a political question to the politician within the framework of the debate. This was stated by Sona Ghazaryan, a deputy of the “Civil Contract” faction, in a conversation with journalists in parliament on August 10, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s question “Why didn’t you die?” during an argument with Karabakh public figure Artur Osipyan.

The deputy emphasized that he considers Osipyan a political figure, and what happened was part of a harsh counterattack. According to him, the Prime Minister’s words were a “political formulation,” not a personal attack. “Artur Osipyan is a politician, and a political discussion took place between them. The Prime Minister of Armenia could not wish death in any context and did not wish death on an Armenian person,” Ghazaryan assured.

It is noteworthy that the representative of the ruling party calls the scandalous incident a public political discussion between two figures, while law enforcement agencies had brought criminal charges against Osipyan for hooliganism and calls for violence, and in June 2026 the preventive measure was completely canceled by the prosecutor.

Touching upon the topic of Osipyan's detention, the MP called for politics not to interfere with the work of law enforcement agencies. "We are doing everything possible to ensure that state institutions operate within the framework of the law, and any criminal case is investigated exclusively in the legal field," Sona Ghazaryan assured.
