About 300 million drams are spent annually on brooms in Yerevan Municipality. Robert Tsovyan
"There are 611 people registered in the EASM institution, who ensure the cleanliness of the streets and yards of Yerevan," Robert Tsovyan, a member of the "National Progress" faction, said at the session of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
Stating that these workers work and clean on a 6-day schedule, Tsovyan said. "The EASM institution buys 60,000 brooms every month, which is 24 million drams. In other words, about 300 million drams are spent on brooms every year." He said that following procedural consultations, he knows that every week about 570-580 people participate in the works.
"If we assume that 600 employees are involved in cleaning every day and if they are given brooms every day, then 42 thousand brooms will remain in the air. That is, if EASM has a basic budget of 7 billion, then you buy a broom for only 300 million drams," said Tsovyan.
