Armenia is now a member of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
At the same time, a new Armenian nomination—"Areni-1 Cave: Prehistoric Life and Winemaking in the Arpa River Valley"—has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.
The nomination was prepared through a public-private partnership involving the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the "Areni-1 Cave" Research Foundation, and the "Armenia Enotourism Council" NGO, with the latter providing the funding.
