The second person killed in the Merdzavan shootings is criminal police officer Karen Abrahamyan.
In a conversation with reporters, Interior Ministry spokesperson Narek Sargsyan said that the police officer was not on duty, but was simply with Valodya Grigoryan at that moment: they had friendly relations.
"According to preliminary information, one person approached, opened fire and fled," Sargsyan detailed.
Please note that criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding the shootings and murders in Merdzavan.
"A criminal proceeding has been initiated in the Vagharshapat Investigation Department of the Armavir Regional Investigation Department under Part 1 (2 episodes) of Article 155 (Murder), Part 1 of Article 44-155 (Attempted Murder) and Part 1 of Article 335 (Illegal Trafficking of Firearms, Its Main Components, Ammunition and Other Materials, Devices, and Objects) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia," the Investigative Committee reported.
Forensic medical examinations were ordered during the preliminary investigation.
Evidentiary and procedural actions are being taken.
Let us remind you that on September 23, at 11:52 p.m., the Ministry of Internal Affairs Police received an alarm that shots had been fired on the Yerevan Highway in the Merdzavan settlement of Armavir region.
According to preliminary data, there are 2 dead and 1 injured. One of the deceased is the head of the community, Valodya Grigoryan.
Police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are taking measures to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
