The “Zhoghovurd” daily writes: “The “Zhoghovurd” daily has learned that the deadline is today, and it will be clear whether Judge Armen Danielyan will shorten the appeal against Samvel Karapetyan, regarding which the lawyers had announced that they were withdrawing the appeal, or whether the political authorities have planned a different process.

It is a fact that on June 23, the philanthropist's lawyers announced that they had withdrawn their appeal against his detention because they do not trust Judge Armen Danielyan, but the "Zhoghovurd" daily was officially informed that as of yesterday, the lawyers had not yet received the decision to dismiss the case.

And what did the businessman's lawyers write: "On June 19, 2025, I appealed the decision to detain businessman, philanthropist, Samvel Karapetyan in a fabricated, obviously illegal criminal proceeding to the Criminal Court of Appeal. Then, with unprecedented speed, in my opinion, as a result of illegal interventions, the materials of the mentioned case were transferred to the Criminal Court of Appeal and assigned to Judge Armen Danielyan. Considering that this judge has been the judge with the lowest rating for decades, the most frequently challenged judge, and the one with whom there is no perception of justice, therefore, as a result of discussions with my client, we have decided to withdraw the appeal filed by me in accordance with the procedure prescribed by law. I would like to inform you that the mentioned application has already been filed with the Criminal Court of Appeal and is subject to immediate consideration.

I also report the fact that when appealing the violation of S. Karapetyan's rights by the decision to detain him to the ECHR, only those domestic remedies that are effective are subject to exhaustion, and in this case, the effectiveness of domestic remedies is completely absent, and the necessary preparatory actions by the advocacy group to immediately file a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights have almost been completed. Information about this will be provided additionally."
